OVERVIEW:
Rodding and Re-styling is one of the earliest East coast magazines (after
Speed Age and Speed Mechanics). It was also the
first in the "little format" style for the region but two years behind the West coast. The magazine was published in a larger format
starting with the July 1964 issue.
Created by Universal Publishing in Canton, Ohio, the publisher was Arnold Abramson with Larry T. Shaw as the first editor. Subsequent editors included Bern Williams, Harry Baron, Ken Allard and Phil Engledrum. Engeldrum subsequently started his own company and published Hot Cars and Super Street Cars magazines.
The title was published from April, 1955 to November, 1966 as a monthly magazine, but in the last two or so years the print schedule was sporadic. However, it had solid hot rod and custom content.
