OVERVIEW:
Drag Racing was published by Petersen Publishing. It started as a bi-monthly title after a series of annuals and
pictorials on drag racing history. The magazine covered current racing events, drivers and vehicles, and brought a dose of nostalgia to the content.
The editor was Dave Wallace Jr. The first publisher was Lee Kelley, but he was replaced by John Dianna as the Group Publisher in June 1988.
The pilot issue was Car Craft's Drag Racing annual published as part of the Car Craft Performance Series (CCPS). The Car Craft association ended quickly, and the magazine was attributed to Hot Rod staff.
With the May, 1991 issue, it was re-titled as Drag Racing USA.
