OVERVIEW:
Midwest Drags magazine was published monthly by Louis Levine. The business address was at 18807 Miles Ave., Cleveland, Ohio, but
editorial offices were in Cedar Lake, Indiana. The editor was John W. Lutzo, and other staff members included Bob Bauerman, Bobby Mueller, Eddie Andrews and Jim Rathbun.
The magazine focused on drag racing in the Great Lakes Region including Illinois, Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, and Wisconsin. But some coverage extended into Missouri, Tennessee and Kentucky.
The editor took a broad approach to content. In fact, none of the material was copyrighted so it could be used to promote the sport of drag racing. It was generally 44 to 48 pages in length, was in a full-sized format, and had many regional advertisers.
After five issues ending in September, 1965, Mr. Lutzo joined Lloyd Derrer who was the new publisher. The title was changed to All American Drags Illustrated. There was a several month transition, and then the new title started in January, 1966.
