OVERVIEW:
Street Power magazine was published by Myron Fass of Countrywide Communications in New York. He was
a publisher of pulp magazines and comic books under multiple company names. According
to his profile on Wikipedia, in the 1970s,
he was known for being the largest multi-title newstand publisher
in the U.S. He put out as many as fifty titles per month, and often these were one-offs or infrequent issues. His most
common tactics: (1) cover any topic that will sell; (2) freely re-use images and stories in later issues; (3) start new titles
as "premier" (with volume 1 number 1) shown so buyers will purchase them as future collectibles, and; (4) contract with freelance writers and
graphic artists for additional content.
Regular recurring automotive titles by Fass include Rod Power, Street Power, Street Racer and Vette Power. The company had a large number of one-shots or infrequent issues, and these can be found in the annuals section under Fass limited series.
CONTENT COMPLETENESS:
A total of 17 issues has been found for the years 1976, 1977, 1978, 1980 and 1981. We believe there
are a few more missing issues.
