OVERVIEW:
Pickups & Mini-Trucks magazine was a re-titling Pickup Van and 4WD which was formerly a
Bond/Parkhurst publication. Petersen Publishing purchased it in mid-1982. It addressed the strong market interest in sport trucks. Numbering
for this title continued from its predecessor. The title publisher was Mike Anson, and the editor was John Jelinek.
In the 1970s, Petersen used annual publications strategically to test potential market depth on a given vehicle or topic, and thus use it as a launching pad for a bi-monthly or monthly publication. For the Pickups & Mini-Trucks title, Petersen produced eleven annual or semi-annual magazines as a run-up to the monthly schedule. These are included along with the regular monthly issues that started in May, 1984.
