OVERVIEW:
4X4 Power was published by Petersen Publishing starting with the October, 1996 issue. Like
other competitors in this space, the magazine covered off-road and 4X4 vehicles. It targeted entry level off-roaders who wanted to
understand terminology, basic upgades and equipment installations. It also featured reader vehicles and profiled how these rigs
were built.
In 1998, the Petersen publishing empire was sold to British-based EMAP PLC, and the merged entity became EMAP-Petersen. The new entity continued publication of this title until August, 2000. This was a year before EMAP sold sixty former Petersen titles to Primedia.
