OVERVIEW:
4X4 Mechanix and later 4X4 Performance was published by CSK Publishing. Like
other competitors in this space, the magazine highlighted feature vehicles and had lots of technical content. It was
positioned as the "how-to magazine for off-road enthusiasts".
After seven issues, it was re-titled to 4X4 Performance in January, 1997. A few months later, the publisher sold six other titles to the McMullen-Argus Publishing, a division of Primedia. But this title stayed with CSK and finished with the January, 1998 issue.
