European Car magazine is a re-titling of VW & Porsche. With the re-titling, content expanded from Volkswagen-only coverage to British, Italian and German prestige brands. Feature articles include new car reviews, tuning, review of classic touring and sports cars, racing history and some do-it-yourself repair tips.

Originally published by Argus Publishers Corporation, European Car became part of the McMullen Argus Publishing division of K-III Inc. (later Primedia) in December, 1995. Subsequent titles owners included Source Interlink Media (2007 - 2014), TEN: The Enthusiast Network (2014 - 2017) and the Motor Trend Group (2017 - 2018).

Under the Motor Trend Group consolidation, the publisher had multiple and somewhat redundant titles: European Car, Road & Track, Car and Driver and Motor Trend magazines. So this title was eliminated in 2018.

The publisher provided circulation data to Oxbridge Communication's compendium, The Standard Periodical Directory, from 1992 through 2005 (the last year for which we have data at this time). Net paid circulation ranged from 107,000 to 268,000 annual print issues.

A total of 301 issues was printed from August, 1991 through Jan/February, 2018 when print ended. Most images are complete, except we are missing the following issues: Jan 2007, Oct 2007, Apr 2008 and June 2008.

An internet presence was created and URL references added to the front covers starting in August, 1999. The site is now defunct: www.europeancarweb.com.
