OVERVIEW:
Corvette was an annual publication from the editorial staff of Hot Rod magazine which was owned by Petersen Publishing. Dick Van Cleve was the publisher, and Lee Kelley was the editor. Mr. Kelley went on to run several of Petersen's publishing groups that produced quarterly and annual issues.

In the 1970s and 1980s, Petersen used these publications strategically to test potential market depth on a given vehicle or topic and thus use it as a launching pad for a bi-monthly or monthly publication. This proved successful with titles such as Volkswagen Classics, Mustang, Kit Car, Pickups and Mini-Trucks, and Muscle Car Classics. These successful launches can be found in other sections of the website.

But Corvette was launched against strong competitors found in this section. So Petersen was NOT able to create a dedicated Corvette monthly title.

When Petersen's publishing groups evolved in the early to mid-1980s, Corvette was issued under two publishing groups -- the Hot Rod Automotive Series (HRAS) and the Car Craft Performance Series (CCPS).
