OVERVIEW:
Sports Car World was a short lived magazine published by Golden Gate Press in Concord, California. The first
publisher was Gordon Martin, but at some point the title was published by Edward Brandt and Donald Short. The tag line was
"Imported and Sports Car News". It was started during the period in the 1950s and 1960s when interest in sports cars and sports car
racing exploded across the United States.
The title started on a bi-weekly schedule and was printed in a newspaper style format. This continued for the first 19 issues, then the title went to a monthly schedule in a more traditional magazine format. Content included racing updates, vehicle profiles, club profiles and classified ads. It was likely concentrated on events in Southern California.
