Model Car & Track was published monthly by Delta Magazines Inc. in Los Angeles. The publishers were Gordon Behn and Don Werner. Gordon Behn
owned Argus Publishing which published Popular Customs and
Popular Hot Rodding. The editor was Spencer Murray who had developed Rod & Custom for Quinn
Publishing in 1953.
Model Car & Track was first published in October 1963 as the Winter edition, then began bi-monthly printing in February 1964. With the September 1964 issue, it went to a monthly schedule. At the end, it was folded into Model Car Science magazine, another Delta Magazines title, after the January 1968 issue.
Contents focused on slot car racing and represented all scales and types of cars. It included product reviews and custom construction techniques as well as model car construction techniques.
