Cars and Karts was published bi-monthly by Natlus Inc. in Long Island, New York. The publisher was Pat Lamar, and Keith Ayling was the editor. It was a short-lived magazines as only three issues were printed from August through December, 1960. Natlus was also known for publishing Sports Car Wheel.
Like Petersen Publishing's Custom Cars and Kart, both magazines tried to cover a broader range of topics to appeal to magazines buyers. This was difficult against well established titles with greater readership like Rod & Custom.
