OVERVIEW:
R.V. Van World was started by publisher William Golden and Hi-Torque Publications. The original business was at 16200 Ventura Blvd, Encino, California.

The magazine seems to have its origins in R.V. World which focused on recreational vehicles. It started in 1972 or 1973 and lasted through June or July, 1975.

Then with the August, 1975 issue, R.V. World was re-titled to R.V. Van World. Numbering continued from the previous title, and content shifted from motor homes to vans.

Hi-Torque had other competitors in the camping and travel magazine sector, so this content shift presented on opportunity to join the van craze caravan of the mid-1970s. However, Golden faced a slew of other competitors with van-focused titles launched in 1975 including Vans & Trucks (June) and 1001 Truck & Van Ideas (October). Travelin' Vans was launched the following year.

After 19 issues, the title was changed a second time to Van World with the January, 1977 issue. The first editor was Eric Pierce, but with the title change a new editor took the helm, Chris Hosford. He remained through to the end of production.
