OVERVIEW:
Arden Communications was owned by John McCluskey, a well known photographer and publisher. He published
Hi-Performance Cars (of which he was the fourth and final owner) and
Scout Four Wheel Drive magazine.
His obituary can
be found here.
Arden produced a large number of specials and limited series, very much in the same "shotgun" style of Myron Fass from Fass Publications. The bulk of these titles were under the Hi-Performance brand from 1981 until 1983 when Hi-Performance Cars ended. Editors, who changed between issues, included Roger Huntington, Tyrone Thomas, and Thomas Segnit. They were all published using a Post Office Box out of Mt. Kisco, New York.
